Les points stylistiques forts de la bête sont d'une part ce fameux double bossage du toit, réalisé en plastique (polycarbonate), et d'autre part le fort décroché de la ligne de caisse au niveau de la custode. A l'intérieur, on retrouve l'ambiance de la 308 de série, améliorée cependant par des touches de carbone et de noir « piano black» supplémentaires. La planche de bord est ainsi intégralement gainée de cuir, et suprême luxe, une horloge de bord signée Bell&Ross trône pile au centre. La 308 RCZ joue la carte du luxe et de la sportivité tout en proposant deux places d'appoint à l'arrière : sièges baquets à l'avant mais banquette arrière rabattable permettant de charger un nombre raisonnable de bagages. Peugeot annonce même que le volume maximal du coffre et sa longueur utile permet d'y glisser un vélo. Espérons que cette 308 RCZ ne reste pas qu'un bel exercice de style...

Alors que la 308 berline s'apprête à être commercialisée, Peugeot dévoile un concept-car très sexy, la 308 RCZ. Un Z qui évoque Zagato, le fameux carrossier italien dont l'une des signatures stylistiques est ce fameux double bossage sur le toit (souvenez-vous de la Diatto Ottovu ou de la Spyker C12 Zagato présentées lors du dernier Salon de Genève). La 308 RCZ semble très inspirée également du coupé 350 Z de Nissan, notamment au niveau de la ligne de toit. La ligne, donc, est spectaculairement réussie, même si la face avant reste très proche de celle de la berline 308 de série. On retrouve d'ailleurs la même plate-forme et les mêmes trains roulants que sur cette dernière. Les voies avant et arrière sont cependant augmentées de 59 mm. Pour le reste, l'originalité réside dans le traitement de la partie arrière, dessinée de façon à faire de ce coupé une auto « trois volumes».

Dans le cahier des charges de cet engin qui préfigure peut-être une déclinaison de série, le gain de poids a été une préoccupation majeure. L'utilisation de matériaux légers, comme l'aluminium, la fibre de carbone (éléments de carrosserie) ou le polycarbonate (pour la lunette arrière), a permis de juguler la masse, annoncée à 1200 kg tout rond. La longueur, égale à celle de la berline 308 (4,26 m) répond à une largeur plus importante et une hauteur notablement diminuée, culminant à seulement 1,32 m. Racée, profilée, bien posée sur des larges voies et des roues de 19 pouces, la 308 RCZ arbore une musculature évocatrice de performances. D'ailleurs, on trouve sous le capot avant une version boostée à 218 ch du 1.6 litre THP déjà vu sur la 207 RC, accouplé à une boîte mécanique à six rapports. Selon Peugeot, il permettrait à ce coupé de revendiquer un 0 à 100 km/h en 7 secondes, un 1000 m départ arrêté en 27 secondes et une vitesse maximale de 235 km/h, de bien belles performances !

Devant lui, le conducteur dispose d'un volant à commandes centrales fixes (comme sur la C4), l'essentiel des réglages étant regroupé pour éviter aux mains de s'éloigner du volant. Les trois cadrans de contrôle sont assortis d'aiguilles annulaires. Elles ne barrent plus le cadran mais courent sur leurs pourtours au profit, parait-il, d'une meilleure lisibilité.
Mais en 2007, un concept n'en serait pas sans une approche visant à préserver l'environnement. La C5 Airscape est donc équipée du V6 2.7l HDI de 208 chevaux associé au filtre à particules. Il est susceptible de fonctionner avec un pourcentage de Diester (huile de Colza) et se voit épauler par une technologie appelée UrbanHybrid. Elle fait appel à un alterno-démarreur réversible et à des condensateurs permettant de stocker d'importantes quantités d'énergie générées lors des phases de décélération et de freinage. Cette énergie permet à la climatisation, à la radio et à d'autres organes de continuer à fonctionner lorsque le système Stop/Start intervient. Rappelons que le Stop/Start déjà proposé en série sur la C3 par exemple coupe le moteur lorsque la voiture s'immobilise plus de quelques secondes et le redémarre sur simple pression de l'accélérateur. La réserve d'énergie sert aussi à doper le V6 lors de dépassements en augmentant le couple.

Chez Citroën, les cabriolets font d'autant plus rêver qu'ils ont toujours été rares. Actuellement, seule la polyvalente C3 Pluriel remplit ce rôle - parmi d'autres - si l'on accepte de faire du démontage. Dès lors, on comprend pourquoi les stylistes chargés d'éblouir le chaland au Salon de Francfort ont planché sur un cabriolet... un vrai. La C5 Airscape s'inscrit parfaitement dans une gamme récemment renouvelée sous le crayon inspiré de Jean Pierre Ploué patron du design Citroën.
La marque aux chevrons a en effet suffisamment amélioré son image pour envisager d'inscrire une décapotable à son catalogue. Et le réalisme du projet nous fait penser que des cartons à la route, il ne faudra peut-être pas attendre si longtemps. En style pur, le concept adopte une face avant maison avec des optiques au dessin connu reliés par la nouvelle mise en scène du double chevron commune à presque tous les modèles de série. La calandre, réduite au strict minimum, contraste avec la large entrée d'air, sorte de gueule béante aménagée au ras du bitume au milieu du pare-choc bouclier. De chaque côté, les phares antibrouillard reprennent l'esprit du dessin des optiques.

Sur le micro-site de Mini (est-ce que c’est redondant ?) MINISpace, les éditeurs ont posté une entrevue avec le Dr Wolfgang Armbrecht, Vice Président Senior du management de la marque MINI, et Ulrich Kranz, chef de projet pour la nouvelle voiture électrique de la compagnie. La MINI E sera officiellement dévoilée mercredi matin à Los Angeles, même si nous aurons le point de vue technique un jour plus tôt. Armbrecht et Kranz n’ont rien révélé que nous ne sachions déjà sur la deux places actionnées à pile, mais si vous n’avez pas porté attention, c’est un bon moyen de rattraper ce retard. La MINI E est essentiellement un test bêta pour les ingénieurs de BMW pour en savoir plus sur l’alimentation au lithium-ion en conditions réelles. Dans un mouvement relativement inhabituel, les gens dans les climats chauds de la côte ouest ne seront pas exclusifs. Les clients de New York/New Jersey seront en mesure d’essayer la MINI E dans le froid également. Nous serons intéressés de voir comment elle se débrouille.

Pour se lancer dans ce nouveau secteur des voitures écolos, Hyundai a décidé de transformer sa Sonata en une voiture électrique en 2011. Pour rappel la ligne des voitures Sonata existe depuis 1988 et reçoit régulièrement des « liftings ». Ainsi, le prochain lifting prévu transformera cette berline en une voiture hybride qui viendra concurrencer la Prius.
Bien que peu de détails sur la fiche technique de cette voiture n’aient été dévoilés, on sait quand même que la nouvelle Sonata fera usage d’une batterie au lithium-polymère. Ce genre de batterie dure plus longtemps et pèse moins lourd que les batteries au Nickel ou encore en Li-Ion. Les batteries au lithium-polymère offrent aussi l’avantage de couter moins cher à la fabrication que les autres types de batteries. Même si Hyundai n’a encore rien révélé sur un éventuel moteur à essence, les rumeurs mentionnent un moteur à 4-cylindres avec une transmission automatique, mais aussi une version plus performante avec un moteur V6 ou V8. En tous les cas, une chose est sûre, il est fort peu probable que cette voiture nous arrive toute électrique sans un moteur a essence pour prendre le relai quand la batterie n’aura plus de jus.

Évolution de la précédente génération, il s'agit d'un coupé 2+2 de la plus pure souche. Long capot avant, lignes de l'habitacle élancées, chute de "rein" très courte et surmontée d'un aileron, Genesis de par ses plis acérés exprime sa sportivité. Pour répondre efficacement, les disques avant sont pincés par un étrier à 4 pistons pour 1 à l'arrière. Affichant un poids sur la balance de 1500 à 1600 kg, c'est sûr que c'est efficace. Comme ça, vous pourrez aussi profiter de sa vitesse de pointe, 223 pour le 2.0 turbo et 240 pour le 3.0, si d'aventure vous prenez le temps de le faire dans un pays plus libéral et tolérant ou à un endroit propice à cet effet (circuit).

Fifty years ago today, the first Mini rolled off the production line at Cowley, now called Plant Oxford. For the first time in half a century that very car is returning to its birthplace for a celebration of 50 years of production.

Plant Oxford built 602,817 Minis from 1959 to 1968, before production was moved to Longbridge. Since 2001 more than 1.4 million new MINIs have been built at the production facility and in total, more than six million classic and new MINIs have been sold since the car first went on sale in 1959.

Le W16 de 1001 ch à l’air libre, on connaît déjà : voilà près d’un an que la Veyron Grand Sport a été dévoilée. Fidèle à sa tradition des séries limitées à répétition, Bugatti s’apprête à réitérer l’expérience à Pebble Beach avec la Veyron 16.4 à ciel ouvert.

Pebble Beach… Bugatti y est comme un poisson dans l’eau. Plutôt que de se contenter de l’ambiance plébéienne des grands salons internationaux, l’ultra-luxe français ( tout le monde semble l’oublier… ) préfère les rassemblements hautement élitistes pour présenter ses frasques à 16 cylindres. Villa d’Este avait vu naître le quatuor Veyron Centenaire, Pebble Beach accueillera la dernière élucubration de Molsheim : une série limitée à quelques dizaines d’exemplaires de la Grand Sport ( pas de chiffre précis pour l’instant ), présentée sur les mêmes pelouses californiennes l’an passé.

Évidemment, le bloc moteur reste inchangé : le W16 de 1001 ch est une institution et la modification de ses valeurs chiffrées serait comme troubler un nombre d’or ( 407 km/h, 0 à 100 en 2,5 s ). Non, l’exclusivité Bugatti se cantonne à de « simples » aménagements esthétiques : livrée extérieure et sellerie spéciales, et éventuellement de nouvelles jantes. Rien d’officiel quant à son aspect physique, mais un responsable Bugatti a confié qu’elle reprendrait probablement l’aspect de la série spéciale Sang Noir ( 15 exemplaires ) : carrosserie noir d’encre et carbone, habitacle cuir/alcantara orangé et nouvelles jantes à 5 doubles branches. Spectaculaire contraste en tout cas, même si moins bariolé que les derniers caprices de dame Veyron…

Le prix? Compte tenu du supplément imposé par la Veyron Grand Sport conventionelle, on peut prévoir une facture d’environ 1,6 millions d’euro. À suivre dès le 14 août, à l’ouverture du Concours d’élégance de Pebble Beach.

The Audi e-tron Concept is 3.93 meter (154.72 in) long and 1.78 meter (70.08 in) wide but just 1.22 meter (48.03 in) tall two-seater. The new BMW X5, set for launch in spring 2010, comes with more powerful new engines and an extended selection of driver assistance systems. The new BMW X5 dynamic capability can be characterized particularly by the addition of the new M Sports package.

Designed specifically for the Sports Activity Vehicle, the M Sports package for the new BMW X5 features a high-speed setting, sporty chassis set-up, and 19-inch M light-alloy wheels in V-spoke design. In addition, 20-inch M light-alloy wheels with bi-color and high-sheen double-spoke design are available as an option. In both cases, the wheels come with mixed tyres at the front and rear, chosen specially for the X5. The M Sports package also includes special tailpipes for the exhaust system that share the trapezoidal shape standard on the BMW X5 xDrive50i of the six-cylinder variants.

For the exterior, the new M Sports package gives the new BMW X5 an exterior paint in shade Carbon Black metallic, which joins five other color shades in the range. The M Aerodynamic package and M door sills combine with the BMW Individual Exterior Line side window are framed in satin-finish aluminum and the BMW Individual roof rails in satin-finish chrome.
