While we here in the U.S. along with drivers from around the world are still waiting for a practical and sporty compact coupe like SUV, the Japanese automaker Toyota has just answered that call for the Australian market when they released the Land Cruiser Prado Three Door. However Toyota traditionalists should not worry because the quality car builder will sell their new truck alongside the old five door model starting this November.

The Land Cruiser Prado is a compact version of Toyota’s full size Land Cruiser SUV and the upcoming three door model wears the same stylish face as the of the five door, with its oversized headlights that are stretched over and around the front fenders, while the chrome framed and stripped vertical bar grill gives the front end more of a three dimensional feel. The three door Prado’s matching boxed fenders scream fun while the six lug hubs, multi piston calipers and spare tire on the trunk let you know that the Prado means business.

However, the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado isn’t all about being cute, because of its shorter wheelbase the off road vehicle actually exhibits a higher break over angle and allows the SUV to travel over steeper peaks than the larger five door model. Combine that with the sectioned truck’s reduced curb weight, which leads to improved real world acceleration as well as fuel economy.

La compañía Toyota, una empresa que se ha establecido sobre nuevos estándares de calidad y satisfacción del cliente decidió lanzar su nuevo diseño denominado Toyota 2009 Camry XLE.

El automóvil Camry XLE, posee diseños altamente aerodinámicos, además de que lleva el sello de garantía de la marca brindándole seguridad al usuario. Toyota Tundra Adds Two New TRD Packages

Toyota's 2009 Tundra full-size pickup truck will enhance its on- and off-road appeal with the addition of two new option packages from Toyota Racing Development (TRD).

A new TRD Rock Warrior Package is specially tuned and equipped with dynamic appearance features for off-road adventure and a powerful look, while a new TRD Sport Edition Package is optimized for an aggressive street appearance.

"Tundra continues to be among the leaders in the full-size pickup truck segment in performance, durability, functionality, safety and value," said Don Esmond, Toyota senior vice president, automotive operations. "These attributes, along with two new and exciting TRD packages and 45 different model configurations allow the Tundra to help meet the needs of a diverse group of truck buyers."

The TRD Rock Warrior and Sport Edition packages add to Tundra's versatile lineup offerings by appealing to image-conscious truck buyers. In addition to the demand for traditional truck attributes, these buyers like to reflect their personal tastes through a truck with a strong street or off-road image.

The TRD Rock Warrior Package enhances the performance of the Tundra 4x4 with the addition of a tuned suspension and many performance and styling enhancements, inside and out. The TRD Sport Edition Package adds an array of unique exterior and interior features to give the Tundra 4x2 the look and feel of a custom street truck. In addition to their styling and performance attributes, both packages are built off of the value-driven Tundra grade, providing buyers with an attractive price.

TRD Rock Warrior will be available exclusively on the Tundra grade 4x4 Double Cab (standard bed) and CrewMax equipped with the 5.7-liter V8 engine. The TRD Sport Edition will be available in two exterior colors, Black and Radiant Red.

Pricing for the TRD Rock Warrior and Sport Edition packages will be announced closer to their launch in November 2008.

Toyota 2009 Tacoma Pickup starts at $15,170

Toyota just announced teh street price for the highly-anticpated 2009 Tacoma pickup trucks, which range from $15,170 to $27,075.

TORRANCE, Calif., June 13 /PRNewswire/ — Toyota Motor Sales (TMS),
U.S.A., Inc., announced manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (MSRP) today
for 2009 Tacoma pickup trucks, which range from $15,170 to $27,075.

Tacoma greatly enhances its overall value with the addition of several
new features. All Tacoma models will now feature Vehicle Stability Control
(VSC), and Traction Control (TRAC) as standard equipment, making Tacoma the
latest model to feature Toyota’s STAR Safety system consisting of Anti-Lock
Brakes, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Brake Assist, VSC, and TRAC.
Additional new standard features include an automatic limited slip
differential, roll-sensing curtain and seat side airbags, and front active
headrests.

Exterior styling has been freshened with an argent painted grille, LED
taillamps and four new colors that include Magnetic Gray, Barcelona Red,
Pyrite, and Timberland. Smoked headlamp trim is featured on X-Runner and
models with the optional TRD Offroad and TRD Sport packages.

Inside, Tacoma features a new and enhanced standard equipment audio
system. All Tacoma audio head units feature AM/FM radio, an auxiliary audio
input, an MP3-capable CD player, and satellite radio capability. Standard
audio on Access and Double Cab models have been upgraded to two ceiling
mounted speakers for a total of six and will be satellite radio ready. An
optional JBL six-disc CD changer with satellite radio that includes a
three-month free subscription to XM Satellite Radio and Bluetooth(TM) is
available for Tacoma Double Cab models.

Additional interior enhancements include a new front door trim panel on
all Tacoma models. Access Cab models receive power windows and door locks
as standard equipment and a new rear seat design that features a center
storage area and under seat storage. Other enhancements include a stylish
new seat fabric pattern for models equipped with the optional SR5 package,
and all Regular Cab models are equipped with bench seats. A new backup
monitor is offered as an option on Access and Double Cab models.

2009 Tacoma 4×2 models carry a base MSRP that ranges from $15,170 for
the Regular Cab with a four cylinder engine and five-speed manual
transmission to $25,285 for the X-Runner Access Cab V6 with a six-speed
manual transmission. For PreRunner models, base MSRP ranges from $16,055
for the Regular Cab with a four cylinder engine and five-speed manual
transmission to $24,000 for the Double Cab Long Bed V6 with 5-speed
automatic transmission.

The base MSRP for Tacoma 4×4 models range from $19,130 for the Regular
Cab with a four-cylinder engine and five-speed manual transmission to
$27,075 for the Double Cab Long Bed V6 with a five-speed automatic
transmission. The overall average MSRP for all Tacoma models increases
$1,104, or 5.1 percent.

El Tata Nano ya tiene más de 51.000 reservas

Cuando Tata anunció que el Nano saldría a la venta en Abril, sorprendió creando una peculiar lista de espera. Abrió un libro de reservar en el que todo aquel interesado podía inscribirse, para después entrar en un sorteo para hacerse con una de las unidades. Pues bien, desde el 1 de Abril ya ha registrado 51.000 pedidos, algo más de los 100.000 que entrarán en el citado sorteo.

El sorteo para conocer a los primeros 100.000 agraciados que conducirán un Tata Nano se celebrará unas semanas antes de que comiencen las primeras entregas a partir de Julio. Para ser conscientes de la enorme demanda que ha tenido en estos días, basta decir que el modelo más vendido en España fue el Focus con cerca de 55.000 unidades vendidas, en las que se incluyen todas las carrocerías disponibles.

El Tata Nano podría llegar a EEUU

Tata presentó en el pasado Salón de Ginebra un prototipo europeizado del Nano, es decir, más seguro y con una estética más acorde a los tiempos que corren y a los gustos europeos. Era un adelanto de lo que podría ser la versión del Nano para el continente, que podría llegar en 2011.

Diversos medios han informado de que Ratan Tata ha dicho que están sopesando la posibilidad de adaptar el Nano a los estándares de seguridad y emisiones estadounidenses para una hipotética comercialización del pequeño coche en dicho país, en el que podría vender a un precio inferior a los 2.500 dólares.

Toyota 2000 SR Concept by Sure Design

Sure Design has unveiled a Toyota 2000 SR Concept, inspired by the legendary Toyota 2000 GT, but it’s nothing official, just a good-looking concept. It combines the great style of 2000 GT with modern and futuristic lines, being powered by a 3.5-liter, turbo V6 front-mounted engine.

It’s powerful engine delivers a whopping 610hp to it’s rear wheels, but it also sports a secondary electric motor, that powers it’s front wheels with less autonomy, for urban driving. Sure Design might give Toyota some ideas and maybe they are going to revive the legend, not necessarily by putting their concept into producing, but maybe designing another one on their own.

Detroit Auto Show 2008: Toyota Venza

Toyota brought a fresh face at Detroit Auto Show, it’s the Venza crossover. Toyota will compete against Nissan Murano and Ford Edge and they built a good-looking car. The Venza is propelled by a V6 engine which produces 268 HP or you can opt for the 2.7-liter four-cylinder. The first has dual-exhausts and 20-inch tires, and the second has single exhaust and 19-inch wheels. At both engines the transmission is a six-speed automatic. The design includes a large front grille and brand new headlights, and another advantage is the very large glass roof. They didn’t announce any price yet, but we think it will be worthwhile.

Scion Hako Coupe Concept

Scion took the wraps off of its latest concept Wednesday, 19th March at the 2008 New York Auto Show. Dubbed the Hako Coupe is intended to the video game playing younger generation. Scion’s Hako Coupe Concept is a very rare show car which in Scion’s own words is ‘polarizing’.

Scion vice president Jack Hollis explained that Hako Concept’s look is the sporty version of a box, but in fact looks more like an armored truck. The front of the car is highlighted with a load of LED headlights, a large upper grille and smaller lower grille. The hugely flared fenders are filled by eighteen inch wheels and 225 series tires with a special tread that spells out the name SCION, and a perfectly vertical windshield to complete the boxy look. The back features include LED taillights and backup lights meshed into the car’s exhaust. The Hako Coupe’s roof has a barcode pattern. That is eventually going to turn into rooftop wallpaper similar to pc wallpaper.

The inside is painted in orange and black with metallic accents. The four seats are covered with rubbery upholstery and the driver seat was designed with computer generated instruments and a gear that looks like a big joystick.

A Bluetooth connection allows music or video files to be uploaded to the Scion’s entertainment system which are comprised of the video monitors on the dash. There are more screens on each door and in the rear side walls displaying images from cameras that point outside. The passengers have the ability to edit these visuals in to you tube quality video.

Toyota RAV4 2 roues motrices

L’équation était simple : les Suv 4 roues motrices sont onéreux, consomment et émettent du Co2 en conséquence. Comment résoudre ce problème rapidement et sans changer fondamentalement le produit ? Toyota a trouvé, après d’autres, la solution, en retirant les roues arrières motrices de son Rav4. Conséquences : 1 600 euros en moins sur le prix de vente, consommation moyenne de 5.9l, en baisse d’environ 10 % et des émissions de Co2 de 150g/km pour la version gas-oil. Ce Rav4 se retrouve ainsi dans la zone neutre du bonus/malus écologique.

Mieux, son moteur, un 4 cylindres 2.2l diesel D-4D en profite pour grimper jusqu’à 150 ch. Et l’entretien de cet ex-4×4 sera forcément moins coûteux puisqu’il y n’y a plus de transmission aux roues arrières. Un moteur essence est également disponible, un 4 cylindres VVT-i de 158 ch. Ne reste plus qu’à Toyota a franchement soigner la finition intérieure qui fait trop bas de gamme pour un véhicule de cette catégorie : le prix de la version diesel commence à 25 400 euros et celui de la version essence débute dès 24 400 euros.

Mais bon, rien n’oblige non plus à rouler en 4×4 à deux roues motrices, cela ressemble légèrement à du snobisme, finalement…

Francfort 2009 : Toyota Auris Hsd Full Hybrid

Toyota voyant remise en cause son exclusivité dans le domaine de la voiture hybride par Honda et sa Insight, le constructeur japonais présentera au salon de Francfort un dérivé hybride de sa compacte Auris, bien moins coûteuse, espérons-le, que la très réussie Prius. Pour justement limiter le prix de vente de cette Auris, Toyota a renoncé à installer des batteries lithium/ion, trop onéreuses, et a choisi des accus nickel-métal-hydrure, moins performants que leurs homologues lithium/ion.

Le constructeur ne communique aucun chiffre de consommation pas plus que le prix de vente de ce modèle car l’Auris hybride ne sera présenté en Allemagne que sous la forme d’un concept-car. Pour le modèle définitif et les détails qui iront avec, il faudra attendre mars 2010 et le salon de Genève…

Francfort 2009 : Toyota iQ, deux nouvelles versions

Bien décidé à faire de son iQ un objet de mode et de désir à l’instar d’une Mini ou d’une Fiat 500, Toyota va présenter au salon de Francfort deux concepts de sa citadine, concepts appelés à voir le jour en série très prochainement.

La première version est une exécution Sport à la plastique très suggestive : grosses jantes, bas de caisses, ailes bodybuildées et gros boucliers sont au programme. En revanche, pas de précision sur la mécanique dédiée à ce modèle. On espère simplement ne pas retrouver sous le capot le faiblard 3 cylindres de 68 ch…

La deuxième étude est une version luxe avec un intérieur revu et corrigé, ce qui ne sera pas un luxe ! Un toit vitré fait aussi son apparition mais il semble que ce sera la seule évolution notable de ce modèle. Faudrait pas non plus piétiner les plate-bandes de la jumelle Aston Martin Cygnet !
